My four girlfriends and I took a 5-day trip through Kerala in April 2014, and enlisted Jacob’s services to help us devise an itinerary and book all of the travel arrangements, including hotels, drivers, trains, and domestic flights. After inquiring about our travel budget and what types of experiences we were most interested in, Jacob sent us a suggested itinerary tailored to our needs and interests. The package was for a 5-city tour (Alleppey, Kumakarom, Munnar, Thekkady, Kochi) and included accommodations, daily breakfasts, driver and guide charges, and taxes for the entire 5 days, including costs. He also included sightseeing places in each city and approximate traveling times between them.
Having Jacob help us find and book everything was so unbelievably helpful, since we were all overwhelmed by the individual research we had done – for example, while we knew we’d want to stay on a house boat in Alleppey, we didn’t know how to decide between all the options and mixed reviews on various travel sites. Jacob was able to book us on a private boat that he had worked with before for a reasonable price – the crew was so friendly, and the food on the boat (fresh seafood!) turned out to be some of the best meals we had during the entire trip!
We requested several changes to the initial itinerary (e.g. we decided that we wanted to stay in a tree house for a night in Thekkady!), and Jacob was super responsive to all of our questions and requests, and also offered suggestions based on his experience of what others had enjoyed. Our final itinerary included Munnar, where we toured the beautiful tea plantations, Thekkady, where we stayed in a gorgeous tree house in the middle of a plantation, Kumarakom, including a day boat tour of the beautiful backwaters, Alleppey, where we stayed overnight on a houseboat, and a day touring Fort Kochi.
We ended up having a smooth and amazing trip thanks to Jacob’s comprehensive and thoughtfully planned itinerary. Although we were 5 girls traveling together, and none of us spoke Malayalam (the dominant language spoken in Kerala), we felt safe and supported the entire time. Jacob was way more thoughtful than any other travel agent I’ve used – for example, although we requested hotels in the budget category, Jacob was sure to book us hotels that he could vouch were nice, safe, clean and decent quality. I am planning on returning to explore more of India, at which point I will definitely use Javian’s services again and highly recommend others do the same!
